I love the idea of Snipperoo and widgets in general. There is of course the conflict between widget-rich blogs and the tendency for people to read more and more via RSS but I still believe that the whole idea has legs.
I signed up for the beta when it was opened and got an account [...]

Click2Map - I like the sound of this
January 29, 2007
I met Anthony Zanetti of Hyliosoft back in July at the Carson Workshop on “How to Build a Web App“. We had a lot in common in terms of background and, like me, he was hoping to build a Web App in the coming months.
Well it looks like he has succeeded and the result [...]
That was a rollercoaster 12 months
December 24, 2006
In one short year we’ve gone from building web-based datacenter management and planning tools for our customer’s customers to starting our own web application development and getting ready to launch it. If you’d asked me a year ago where we’d be today, I would probably have said “doing the same thing as now”. I love [...]
Salim’s new baby - Confabb, The Conference Community
November 13, 2006
I had a very interesting IM session on Skype this morning with Salim Ismail, I hope he was on the West Coast or else he was really burning the midnight oil! He told me all about their new site which is launching today called Confabb. In their own words
Confabb (confabb.com) combines an aggregate database of [...]
PutPlace now accepting pre-registration
November 8, 2006
Joe Drumgoole’s venture PutPlace now has the web-site up and running and they are accepting requests for sign-up. I’ve just entered my details and I’m looking forward to trying it out.
What does it do? Joe says:
It helps you to find, organise, secure and share that huge and growing pile of photos, video, music, [...]
Wow, Google acquires JotSpot
October 31, 2006
Just saw a posting on the Google Blog from Joe Kraus saying that Google have acquired JotSpot. Big congrats to Joe and the team, it is much deserved.
I’m totally convinced of the general utility of Wikis for a broad non-tech userbase and JotSpot was the poster child for that. If Google do manage to [...]
J’espere que je serai présent a Le Web 3
October 30, 2006
And that my schoolboy French improves in the meantime. Certain impending new arrivals will dictate whether I can go to the event formerly known as Les Blogs or not but it does sound like it’ll be a fantastic two days.
I’m sure Tom is going and Mark has said that he is. Anyone else thinking [...]
Techcrunch UK to become Techcrunch UK & Ireland
October 25, 2006
I know it’s a small thing but I’m really happy Sam is doing the rename. Did Fergus and Tom accost him at the launch party last week?
Let’s give him plenty of news from this side of the Irish sea!
Hopefully our new venture will have something he can write about in the coming months. I just [...]
Real World Live Clipboard
October 3, 2006
Why are Microsoft and Eventful not shouting this from the rooftops?
You can now find an event in Eventful (e.g. this Divine Comedy one in Cork), right-click the Live Clipboard Icon, click copy, go to Windows Live Writer and do paste. Not only do you now have all that event information in your blog post, [...]

d.Construct 2006
Event type: Conference
Date: 2006-09-08
Rating: 4 out of 5
Last Friday was dConstruct 2006 and I headed over not really knowing what to expect. The quality of speakers overall was excellent and I’m only disappointed that I didn’t get to meet more people - over 300 people in the room made [...]
We’re off to see the wizards…
September 7, 2006
I’m heading to Brighton tonight for the dConstruct 2006 conference tomorrow. It really does look like it’s going to be a great day. Jeremy has done a superb job in building the buzz via his podcasts. And I even got an indirect mention in one of them (”there are two guys travelling from Cork”). Possibly [...]

★★★★☆ Just a quick mini-review: First off, I’m a huge fan of Technorati and love nearly everything they do. Secondly, I think uncluttered web pages should be mandatory. [...]
BarCamp Ireland
July 24, 2006
Fergus, Paul and James have all blogged about BarCamp Ireland already. I just bit the bullet and signed up to talk rather than just attend. I’ve a few things I can usefully contribute:
My experiences so far with raising funding and dealing with state bodies (and 2002 vs 2006)
Progress on outsourcing by the time BarCamp comes [...]

Looks like we are not a Dot-Bomb 2.0
July 17, 2006
Taking the list of 11 suggestions for Not Being a Dot-Bomb 2.0 courtesy of the dead2.0 blog, I think our plan stacks up pretty well.
1. Have a revenue model, right now. We have two, the early model and the live-n-kicking model. I wouldn’t have got into this otherwise.
2. Be a complete business, not just [...]

Feedburner not buying Nooked
July 14, 2006
Well as ever it looks like Valleywag is about as accurate as the National Enquirer and I shouldn’t be spreading their rubbish rumours. Fergus has stated that the story is untrue. It was just one of those stories that grows because it makes perfect sense even if it is not true.
Not that I’d ever believe [...]
What’s the story with sxore?
July 6, 2006
I installed the sxore comments management system on this site back on April 4th. I had a few issues getting it up and running but one of their developers was very helpful in getting it going. At the time I noted a few limitations and behaviours I wasn’t very happy with. Some are core features [...]

it@cork Web2.0 Conference
Event type: Conference
Date: 2006-06-08

The Q&A session didn’t last very long but did throw up some interesting points.
To kick off, there were various tech questions for Rob. Then Fergus was asked how long it took to launch Nooked, He replied that it was about a [...]
