ShareIT Presentation

Written on March 25, 2007 by Conor O'Neill

The first ShareIT session was held yesterday in UCC. Unfortunately I had to leave early but I did catch Jenny Kent’s and Krishna De’s presentations both of which were excellent and full of practical nuggets rather than generalities. This is a genuinely valuable initiative for those starting out in tech businesses. I highly recommend attending the next one in Dublin on April 28th in the Microsoft offices.

My presentation on “Oursourcing - A Guide” is here as a PDF.

Sounds like a really good talk. I wonder why you say never 50/50? Too much of a risk up-front?

It does depend on the contract value. If it is only a few hundred Euro then 50/50 is fine but if it is €10k with a new supplier then that is far too risky in my book.

    How did Thursday’s OpenCoffee go?

33/33/33 (+1!) sounds best to me.

Thursday’s OpenCoffee Club was very good, but turn-out was only marginallly better than the first. Will need to be more proactive about spreading the good word for the next one I think.

I think that recent comment from James was spot-on i.e just keep turning up and blogging about it. The message will get out bit by bit. This Friday may be smaller for us but I expect to see some new faces.

    Hi Conor,

A belated thanks for speaking at ShareIT. Outsourcing is something that we’ve been thinking about and your presentation was an eye opener.

Between BarCamp, ShareIT and OpenCoffeeClub you are doing a huge amount to help others out, just so you know, it’s not unappreciated!

    Cheers,
    Dave

Thanks Dave, I learn tons from each of these events I get involved in.
