Interest in a Cork OpenCoffee Club meetup next week?
Written on March 7, 2007 by Conor O'Neill
Starting with Saul in London followed quickly by Eoghan in Dublin and James/Jan in Limerick, it looks like the OpenCoffee Club idea really does have legs. The core idea is that a regular informal meeting is held in a coffee shop where we try to bring together entrepreneurs and investors to discuss topics of mutual interest, learn from each other and hopefully build lasting business relationships over time.
I’d like to propose an inaugural one in Cork City for next week. The idea of the first one will be to guage interest in doing it regularly, come up with some actions for getting more people in from both sides and also (as a side topic) to discuss the practicalities of Coworking in Cork.
Please leave your name in the comments if you are interested in meeting up next week (or pop me an email to conor at argolon dot com). Also suggest a decent sized place to hold it. If there is sufficient interest, I’ll set it up and then contact Enterprise Ireland, CorkBIC/Business Angels Partnership and it@cork to spread the word. Anyone have County Enterprise Board contacts?

Hi Conor,
I’ll be away on holidays most of next week (mon - thurs) so unless you’re holding it on friday I won’t be able to go. It’s a great idea.

Cork OpenCoffee without Pixenate? Never I say! It may end up being Friday if we want time to drum up plenty of interest.
Would love to attend Conor, Friday gets my vote also
I’ll have a half double decaffeinated half-caf, with a twist of lemon.
Crikey, I totally forgot about scheduling a Limerick OpenCoffee club this week, though Mary Gilmartin says she’s going along this morning to the Clarion. I hope a few turn up. I think a forthnightly meeting might better suit us better to be honest but we’ll see.
I wouldn’t mind making the odd trip to Cork either.
I think every two weeks is probably the way to go as we won’t be having 120 people turning up. Any ideas for location? The Bodega would have been ideal!
Ah yes, wouldn’t the Bodega have been smashing - bright and airy. I called there a few weeks ago for one last time… brought back the memories of my time in Cork.
