Great Speakers at the upcoming SkyCon
Written on January 30, 2007 by Conor O'Neill
The University of Limerick Computer Society, Skynet, is celebrating its 15th anniversary and they are hosting a very impressive looking conference called SkyCon. I talked to Laura about it after BarCamp and it sounds like a cannot-miss event. Just look at the list of Speakers.
It’s on in UL from Feb 16th to 18th and at the very least you should turn up for Alan Cox’s session.

That’s an impressive line-up.
I have one of Robert Chassell’s books (programming emacs) and Simon Phipps of Sun is sure to be a big draw.
holy crap 15 years… I think I came in year 2 or early year 3. Happy times.
Ah the good old days of chisels and stone eh?
When upgrading to a P90 for the main box was a huge deal… and back when someone doing shutdown without -r on skynet while it was locked in quinnj’s room caused a bit of a fuss
Nm that, just come along, it promises to be a great event, and my last event as President! Take part in the event and make it a great birthday!
See you there
Well, new skynet should be delivered this week sometime. Dual core Opteron, 2GB RAM and dual 80GB drives. /home has 4% of 1.9TB used. Gone are the days of /home in plassey and /var in Kilmurry
Conor are you definately coming down? I’ve over booked a B&B if you need a place to stay?
Ah I’m an utter gobshite Laura - despite writing the post I convinced myself that it was in March not February. We’re rolling out the next version of our site over the coming weekend so there is no hope I’ll make it up. Sorry.
Hit me the next time you see me.
Are you doing any podcasts?
We’re recording all the talks for a later date to stream them! you’re getting such a wallop at the next bar camp! for shame!
