FON - Sometimes it’s nice to be wrong

Written on January 22, 2007 by Conor O'Neill

I have written both positively and quite negatively about FON on this blog. I had no success recently with redeeming a voucher for a free router and started to wonder if it fact the reality matched the PR.

I did finally manage to order the free router by signing up with a dummy account using the same postal address as my real account. It just arrived, five weeks later. So I take it all back, those FON guys are straight up and I remain a big fan of the idea. Hopefully someone in Kensington in London has one so I get free wifi in my hotel when I’m at FoWA.

This is strange as I also received my Fon router today! Forgot to ask you on Saturday, have you found a hotel you would recommend for the future of web apps in Kensington?

I’m staying in “Quality Crown Hotel Kensington”. Cheap and very near the event. Fergus said it is not the best and no mobile signal on the first floor but it is fine really.

I used http://www.london-discount-hotel.com/. Not fully automated but seemed to book it ok.
