72 Hours later and counting……

The eircom donkeys finally figure out how their own equipment works and re-enable BT customers. This is more than 12 hours after they re-enabled their own customers. We now have broadband again. Does BT have an SLA with eircom? A charge of something like €100 per customer per hour of downtime seems reasonable to me.
When O2 launch HSDPA (soon?), their ads should simply state three things - “We use no part of the eircom network to deliver wireless broadband to you”, “we actually give a damn”, “there is no chance of us going bust”. The first one will be good enough for me. I’ll sign up the day they launch.
UPDATE 1: Nope, it’s gone down again. These people shouldn’t be allowed run a sweetshop let alone a telco.

I’ve been using Vodafone’s flatrate 3G datacard plan for a few months now Conor and have been delighted with it. Apparently the upgrade to HSDPA is starting this month in the Dublin area so I could be waiting a while for it to reach me in west Limerick but when it does I think I’ll have to seriously consider ditching my Eircom broadband.
Are Voda promising HSDPA too? And the current card will support via SW upgrade?
If so, that is very tempting, if pricey. We have a brutal mobile signal here but I’m sure I could get a mini antenna in the attic for it when I’m not travelling.
The main blocking factor tho is that VOIP is banned in the T’s & C’s. That would crucify me with all the international calls I do using Skype.
